My Latest Articles Are Bleeding Cool

by Rich Handley

Coming next month from Avatar Press will be issue #3 of Bleeding Cool Magazine, edited by Avatar's James Kuhoric. This will be a special science-fiction-themed issue, covering Doctor Who, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy and other popular sci-fi titles, and I'm quite pleased to be a part of it.

Plus, hey, STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS.
How bleeding cool is that?

I've written two articles for this issue: a piece discussing the Battlestar Galactica and Firefly universes, and a main feature story offering a 35-year retrospective of Star Wars' history in comic book format.

The first article compares and contrasts BSG and Firefly, to help readers decide which was the frakkin' shiniest. The second examines everything Star Wars from Marvel to Dark Horse, including the L.A. Times newspaper strips, Blackthorne's brief Star Wars 3-D series, MyComyc's Spanish-language Droids and Ewoks titles, and other goodies produced during the past three decades.

The Star Wars article includes some wonderful insight from Randy Stradley, John Jackson Miller and Ryder Windham, which helped to make this a fun assignment indeed. As someone who used to write frequently for the various Star Wars licensees, it was great fun to catch up with that universe again.

I hope those who pick up the issue deem it worthy of the BSG, Firefly and Star Wars names. May the frakkin' Force be with you, my big damn heroes.
